Dr Dana Maki discusses diversity and its impact on physiotherapy research

The PRS committee were honoured to receive a thought provoking, insightful and engaging talk from Dr Dana Maki this evening.

Dr Dana Maki shared her inspirational research journey with the PRS committee, and discussed some of the barriers she has had to overcome as a physiotherapist and researcher of BAME background.

Dr Maki also discussed some of the challenges faced by researchers of BAME backgrounds more widely, and the importance of diversity within health-related research, with consideration to both researchers and the sample population.

As a Committee, we're motivated to work towards breaking down barriers for BAME researchers, and see a more diverse representation from the BAME community within our own Committee, at our Conferences in the years ahead and within Physiotherapy research more widely.
