I am a Physiotherapist for the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust
My role is to provide patients and their families with skills, knowledge and equipment to safeguard their quality of life. I volunteer as a research champion at this trust to guide and drive research in others in clinical settings and I am training to provide mentorship for others.
I have a special interest in neurological conditions and conditions that impact cognitive functioning and the impact on physical ability.
My passion for research led me to the Physiotherapy Research Society (PRS), I wrote a publication for the Journal of Academic Development and Education, reflecting on the 39th Scientific Meeting of the PRS. Its focus was on the benefits to patients of clinically driven research in the future.
My previous research experience includes Qualitative Service Evaluations into the effects of music-supported therapy in the Stroke population.
This work resulted in me being awarded the Dame Agnes Hunt research prize winner at Keele for my dissertation work, as well as being a co-author on the winning CSP Student Poster at the CSP Student Conference in 2023.
To me research showcases the courage that people have; to throw down the gauntlet to challenge the way that things have always been done and to improve pathways of clinical care.
Networking has the power to build alliances and platforms, such as the Physiotherapy Research Society, advocate for the continued engagement between students, clinicians and academics.
