PRS 2024 Conference Speakers

We are delighted to confirm that our speakers for #PRS2024 at AECC Bournemouth are Dr Harriet Shannon, Dr Gita Ramdharry and Professor Lisa Roberts.

Professor Lisa Roberts PhD PFHEA FCSP

We are excited to welcome Professor Lisa Roberts as keynote speaker for this year's conference. Professor Roberts is a Clinical Professor of Musculoskeletal Health and the University of Southampton, leading a research programme in communication, in addition, her work involves working to improve patient experience and promote health and independence using technologies for people with back pain. In addition, Professor Roberts is a Consultant Physiotherapist at the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.

She is former President of the Society of Back Pain Research and is currently Membership Council Chair, sitting on the Executive Committee of EUROSPINE (the Spine Society of Europe).

 

Dr Gita Ramdharry BSc MSc PhD MCSP 

We are delighted to welcome to this year's conference Dr Gita Ramdharry, who is a physiotherapist working as a Consultant Allied Health Professional in neuromuscular diseases at the Queen Square / MRC Centre for Neuromuscular Diseases, National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, UCLH. Dr Ramdharry is an Honorary Associate Professor at UCL and Visiting Professor at Kingston University, and leads the Neuromuscular Rehabilitation Research Group whose research aims to support people to live well with muscle wasting conditions.

In 2008, Dr Ramdharry completed her PhD in walking patterns, endurance and orthotic interventions for people with Charcot Marie Tooth disease. She was awarded an NIHR Clinical Lectureship in 2010 for further research into Charcot Marie Tooth disease and has progressed to Associate Professor, and becoming Director of Research for the School of Allied Health, Midwifery and Social Care. Dr Ramdharry also works in the area of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) and is the Chair of the EDI committee for the Department of Neuromuscular Diseases at UCL Institute of Neurology.

 

Dr Harriet Shannon PhD

We are thrilled to welcome Dr Harriet Shannon, who is the programme lead for cardiorespiratory physiotherapy education at University College London (UCL). Dr Shannon has been involved in postgraduate education for nearly 20 years and is the current Chair of CAHPR (Council for AHP Research) regional hub forum. She has supervised over 100 MSc research projects and has several pre-doctoral, doctoral and postdoctoral students. Her own work focuses on the delivery of safe and effective physiotherapy services in the intensive care unit, with a particular interest in paediatrics. Harriet has spoken at many National and International conferences, most recently World Physiotherapy in Dubai. But nothing makes her happier than watching her students flourish in their chosen academic, clinical or leadership careers.
